RICK VS. SHANE: Many people are saying-because of the scene in the mid-season finale with Bob-that Rick is now the new Shane. Shane was Rick's partner and friend before turning enemy in Season 2 of THE WALKING DEAD. Shane also had a relationship with Lori, Ricks wife, as they both assumed Rick died in a hospital S1 that was overrun by walkers. In my opinion I don't feel that Rick is anything like Shane. Yes, I do feel Rick is prong to go off and do what he feels he needs to do but Rick's loyalty to the group and to others is what separates him from Shane. Shane was power hungry and didn't care about what anyone else had to say; he was always looking to take actions into his own hands and at the end of the day he didn't care about what anyone else had to say. Rick on the other hand listens to the others in the group when they offer up suggestions; sometimes he even listens when he probably should simply take control of the situation. Even in the mid-season finale of Season 5 we see Rick consult with Daryl after killing Bob. Although Rick was ready to kill the other cops and then go into the hospital guns blazing Daryl convinced him that there may be another way and to give the other cops a chance. Rick listened and for the most part the exchange for Carol and Beth went smoothly until...

Before the exchange between Dawn, those at the hospital, and Rick's group, we seen Dawn peacefully and respectfully speaking with Beth. Beth and Dawn didn't start off on the best note with one another. When Beth first started to get to know the others at the hospital she found Dawn to be harsh along with the other cops that followed her. Beth has to work for them because they saved her; if she decided to eat or use any clean supplies she would have to pay that back with labor at the hospital. She changed patient's sheets, gave them the proper medication and cleaned up other areas of the hospital in order to return payment. Dawn, the cop in charge, beat Beth up on occasions when she thought she had to prove her authority and keep the trust of those following her, including fellow cops. During the mid-season finale we see a different more compassionate Dawn. She carries decent conversations with Beth which makes the ending even more sad and questionable.
