TWO GUYS, ONE GAL: Although it may seem Olivia is getting exactly what she wants and then some, in my opinion, she's missing out on a solid relationship with no guessing and no feeling of being THE OTHER WOMAN. Oh shoot! Do I sound ANTI-FITZ? It's because at this moment I can think of one thousand plus reasons why Olivia should seek a relationship with any single, decent man, than stay bound up in her emotions with Fitz. To be honest it's not really a matter of whether she ends up with Jake or not; I'm just hoping she begins to see the bigger picture. The longer President Fitz stays with his wife-something he's suppose to do anyways-the more he's bound by the things that happens to them in their marriage. They have already lost a son. Is it now or will it ever be a good time to leave Mellie for Olivia Pope? I'm close to placing a bet that if their relationship does end it will be Mellie calling it quits on Fitz, finally saying she's ready to move on with her life without him and his drama. The one thing I've noticed about Fitz, although he's president, he has yet to man up and really make decisions without some form of manipulation. Fitz comes across, in my opinion, as a chameleon, changing and adapting to the circumstances but never really creating and playing the cards to shift and control his situation. Yes he's had some good moments. NO, I won't totally bash Fitz but he's too distracted and too led by circumstances to make decisions. When he was angry at Olivia for her part in rigging the election we see Fitz at what seemed to be his best. His anger prompted his decisions and he made moves, but he was angry. The way he treated Liv at the time was cold and more OFF than ON. Jake came into the picture because Fitz hired him to watch over Olivia while he threw his tantrum. In the mean time Jake caught feeling for Olivia and their intimate relationship began.
JAKE: Honestly I really can't say for a fact Olivia belongs with Jake but I can say for a fact the odds of her moving on with her life being with Jake is greater than with Fitz. Jake is single, loyal-crazy-but loyal; he understands her; he doesn't judge her but loves her where she is in life at the moment. What I've respected about Jake thus far is his ability to not allow a woman that he cares for deeply, hold control over him. He sets boundaries and although he may come off as cold and harsh, someone as head strong as Olivia, if not told the hard truth can get out of control thinking she has control and that never works out for Olivia. I don't think many realize that Jake giving Olivia boundaries in their relationship is his way of telling her he'll give her time to work through her issues and if it's really Fitz she loves and she feels she's better off with, she won't have such a hard decision because he's already out of the equation, making it easier for her. This is not only Jake's way to keep from feeling the blow of the inevitable but to protect Liv from herself. She has the tendency to get too attached and feel confused in the end. If Fitz hurt her again, her emotions make the decisions for her instead of her truly digging deep to understand what she wants. Jake knows this and he understood that about her from the moment he met her.
NO DEMON, NO SAINT: Although Jake has had his share of lies, scandal and murder there isn't anyone on Scandal who has not. Olivia still wants to have dinner and coffee with her Dad who is COMMAND. Her father aka POPPA POPE aka COMMAND was at one point the boss of Jake and Fitz, among others. Liv can't, at this point, be harsh towards anyone's past with the ties to her father. No outsider, a part from that life will truly understand Liv. If she ever tried to settle down with someone NORMAL, with no secrets, to their knowledge, she'll always be covering her tracks and her family’s true identity. Jake right now is a good fit for her. He sets boundaries, he keeps it real, he seems to want to do right by her and himself; he's strong and protective, he understands her situation and HE'S SINGLE!
OLIVIA: Often times we say what we'd do if we are in that person's shoes. Often times it all boils down to our personalities, personal expectations, experiences, upbringing and current situation. Olivia seems to like a challenge. After all her job is to come to the aid of powerful people and solve some of the toughest cases. I could be wrong, but I'm not certain if Olivia would enjoy a relationship with no challenges. A part from the challenge of hooking up with Fitz in The Oval Office and sneaking around to avoid getting caught, does Olivia know much about Fitz's personality in a calmer lifestyle and setting? Jake on the other hand seems to always have a challenge for her and she's already experienced him by herself without the drama when they were secluded on a island; she didn't seem bored or ready to leave. The thrill of being the other woman could cause the emotional adrenaline Olivia feels for Fitz, confused as Love. Time will only tell if this is the case and how their relationship will play out. IN THE MEAN TIME: I guess we, JAKE and or FITZ fans, will have to sit through this intimate triangle Olivia has shaping around her. I'm not saying either of the two are going to end up in Olivia's HAPPILY EVER AFTER but I sure hope she comes to her senses and realizes the difference in relationships with high stake thrills, verses real love when you can truly know and understand someone without the thrills. -TVandPopcorn
